Irish Chamber Orchestra enthusiasts had the opportunity to preview the orchestra's US touring programme when it performed from Limerick University Concert Hall on 20th October 2011. Two of Ireland's brightest young stars performed in the one-off performance in advance of a hugely successful US tour. Belfast-born pianist Michael McHale performed Prokofiev's demanding left-hand Piano Concerto, commissioned by the concert pianist Paul Wittgenstein who lost his right arm in World War 1.

Pádraic Keane (Uileann Pipes), the recipient of the 2011 TG4 Young Musician of the Year award, performed a new work, Termōn, by celebrated composer and pianist Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin. Composer for String Orchestra and Uileann Pipes, Termōn commemorates the 10th Anniversary of 9/11. Two symphonies completed the programme - Haydn's Miracle Symphony No. 96, a work which reveals the original and inventive composing that distinguishes Haydn's mature symphonies. The momentum of Beethoven's 7th Symphony Op. 92 is a breath-taking work, heard previously on the soundtrack for the climactic scene in the popular Oscar-winning film, The Kings' Speech.

The Platform Ireland live-stream was made possible through Arts Council of Ireland Touring and Dissemination of Work Scheme and funding from The Department of Arts, Heritage & the Gaeltacht.
