On 30th September, Platform Ireland live-streamed "Tristan und Isolde", considered one of Richard Wagner greatest operas from The Bord Gais Energy Theatre as part of The Dublin Theatre Festival 2012. Presented by Wide Open Opera, Platform Ireland was joined during the performance by friends, followers and supporters across 50 countries worldwide who shared the event with over five million people worldwide.
Of Haydn’s Paris Symphonies, No. 83 is a seminal work, marking a new level of compositional attainment. Coupled with this is his Armida Overture which Haydn regarded as his best work. Irish composer Garrett Sholdice’s music possesses an ‘exquisite delicacy’ (The Irish Times). Rising young Irish star Michael McHale performs the world premiere of Sholdice’s new piano concerto inspired by Haydn’s Paris symphonies and memories of the city of Paris itself.
Platform Ireland live-streamed The Irish Chamber Orchestra autumn concert from Limerick University Concert Hall on 20th October 2011. The event featured Padraig Keane, TG4 Young Musician of the Year (2011), performing a new work by leading Irish Composer Micheal O' Suilleabhain and a stunning performance of Prokofiev's demanding left-hand Piano Concerto by Michael McHale, one of Irelands leading young pianists.
