Platformireland.ie live streaming a highlight of this year’s Dublin Theatre Festival – Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde
Wide Open Opera in association with Bord Gais Energy Theatre and the Dublin Theatre Festival present the greatest love story in Dublin this autumn: Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde.
Regarded by many as the greatest operatic achievement of all time, this ravishing Irish love story was last performed in Ireland in 1963.
Directed and designed by Yannis Kokkos, this epic production features leading Irish and international performers alongside the 85-member RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Fergus Sheil.
Wide Open Opera’s production spans a performance time of five hours, and includes Irish singers Miriam Murphy (Isolde) and Imelda Drumm (Brangäne) alongside international artists Lars Cleveman (Tristan), Brett Polegato (Kurwenal) and Manfred Hemm (König Marke). The cast also includes Eugene Ginty (Melot), Owen Gilhooly (Hirt), Eamonn Mulhall (Seeman) and Gavan Ring (Steuermann).
Tristan und Isolde promises to be a truly spectacular, once in a lifetime event featuring behind the scenes footage, interviews and audience opinions throughout and when you can watch it with platformireland.ie on your phone, laptop or on the top of a bus, you now have no excuse to miss it!
