: I have a television - How can I watch Platform Ireland?

You can watch any Platform Ireland livestream production by connecting your computer to your TV. It is necessary that your computer has an active internet connection. Many TVs are equipped with a PC, VGA or DVI inputs which you can use to connect you computer.

You need to connect two cables between your computer and TV. The first one is a VGA or DVI cable; on Mac you need a VGA display adapter. The second one is minijack RCA or Phono cable for audio. Many computers will also allow you to connect to a TV or projector using a HDMI cable, which may also be capable of passing sound without the need for another cable.

: Can I view Platform Ireland livestream events when offline?

Livestreams can only be viewed with an active internet connection.

: Can I download the arts events to my computer?

The productions are presently only available as livestreams on Platform Ireland and are not available for download.

: How fast does my Internet connection need to be for livestream events on Platform Ireland?

Platform Ireland's system automatically detects your bandwidth speed when you watch livestream production. You can have a better audio-visual quality if you have a high Wi-Fi connection. To enjoy high quality, uninterrupted production you need an internet connection that delivers at least 3-5 Mbps of sustained bandwidth.

: Is Platform Ireland available in my country?

Platform Ireland is available globally to the general public as long as you have access to an active internet connection.

: Can I screen Platform Ireland live events in a classroom, lecture hall, bars or cinema or other public spaces?

Platform Ireland live events are licensed for home use only and should not be screened within classrooms or lecture halls or other public or private screening spaces. If you would like to utilise our productions, please contact info[at]platformireland[dot]ie to enquire about our service packages.


: I can’t see the livestream. What can I do?

  • Check that your internet connection is working and is delivering sufficient bandwidth. You can check your internet connection speed with Ookla.
  • Check that you are logged in to Platform Ireland account. If you aren’t logged in, you can log in here.
  • Check that you have successfully ordered the livestream that you wish to view. You will have received an email confirmation for your order, or you can view your orders on the My Account page.
  • Check that your device (e.g. Tablet) and browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) are in included list of devices above.
  • Try reloading the page.
  • Contact support[at]platformireland[dot]ie if the problem persists.

: The livestream is pausing frequently (buffering). What can I do?

  • Check that your internet connection is fast enough. See above for more instructions on this.
  • Close any other web pages or applications that you may have open.

: Do I need Adobe Flash software to view Platform Ireland?

Platform Ireland uses both Adobe Flash and HTML5 software for maximum compatability.  most users will not need to install additional software, but if prompted, please install the free Adobe Flash player.

: I’m on an Android device and have been prompted to install Hook. What is this?

Android devices may be prompted to install the free Hook app. If prompted, please install Hook, and return to Platform Ireland to view the video.
